Description

The purpose of the course is to familiarize you with the diversity of resources available to help you learn to use the Canvas LMS. The purpose is also to prepare you to develop a module for your actual course. This course is resource-rich, with access to documents, discussion boards, videos, repositories, and other instructional support content useful in building your course development skills.

Objectives

This is a competency-based course that focuses on specific best practices that you will use to demonstrate your ability to transform a learning activity by applying digital pedagogy best practices. Through a series of learning activities and collaborative exercises, you'll consider the rationale and purpose of digital pedagogy, critique some common digital transformation models, and evaluate some sample activities. As you engage in reflection and discussion you'll consider the value of digital pedagogy for your blended course, and identify approaches that are most relevant to you.

Kim Whiteside

Kim has over 20 years of experience in the adult learning field. She has a master’s degree in Adult Learning and Performance from Drake University and holds three professional certifications: Executive Coaching, Experiential Learning, and Career Counseling. She has over 20 years of experience presenting and facilitating workshops on strategies for effective meetings. In her current role as Director of Workforce and IT Innovation – Corporate Online at Metropolitan Community College, Kim partners with businesses and corporations to create engaging learning experiences for both credit and non-credit courses.
